In what has become a hugely anticipated annual event, OVOFEST 2013 has been officially announced.

Today news of this year’s festival broke on the October’s Very Own blog, which revealed that Drakehimself will headline the show, performing on August 5 while Frank Ocean and James Blake will perform August 4, plus more ‘special guests’ still to be announced. The fourth annual event will be held at Toronto’s Molson Amphitheatre.

Drizzy is guaranteed to deliver yet another spectacular show. With previous guests including Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Nicki Minaj – the man sets a high standard.  Meanwhile Kanye West and 50 Cent are both scheduled to be promoting new albums in 2013, there is a good chance they too will feature.

OVOFEST is a tribute to Canada and throughout the show Drake shows his love. Last year Drake showed off his fresh ‘416’ tattoo which represents the area code of his hometown. Driz has always been conscious of his presence in Canada and those Canadians seem to love him right back.

This just keeps us wondering when’s Drizzy’s bringing that ‘north north’ flair down under.

Drake‘s newest signee PARTYNEXTDOOR dropped another single today: Wus Good / Curious.

It was only a few weeks back that we heard the first track from the Drizzy’s new protégé, Make  a Mill, but besides the two tracks he is a man of mystery and keeping us very curious.

This track has very Drizzy undertones, and with a hint of The Weeknd throughout. The spaced out instrumentals and bass percussion makes PARTYNEXTDOOR sound like something definitely up and coming.

There is no denying Drake‘s great taste – and hey, if it’s good enough to be getting OVO pumped, it’s good enough for me.

Tyga3

Tyga elaborates on the absence of many Cash Money artists on his new album, revealing that he only included features that complimented the songs organically.

Tyga recently spoke at length about the Tupac feature he scored for the aptly titled “Hit ‘Em Up” off his new album “Hotel California”. This wasn’t the only notable feature on the album, which houses collaborations with Rick Ross, Game, Future2 Chainz, and more. While Weezy does make an appearance on “500 Degrees”, YMCMB heavyweights like Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Birdman are noticeably missing. Tyga spoke with MTV about his decision to leave many of his teammates off the LP.

”I just make it organically, feel me,” said Tyga, revealing that he did want to work with Minaj, but the collaboration never got off the ground. “I had a track that I wanted Nicki on, but it just didn’t work out.”

T-Raww expressed that he wanted to include features that made sense in the context of the songs, rather than just placing them in out of convenience, or allegiance to his team. ”I just felt like I didn’t wanna just put anybody on anything, so every song that I got a feature on, you can hear that person on that feature,” he said. “It increases the song.”

The “Rack City” rapper stressed the importance of not having to rely on other artists, indicating that me may not always have a strong team behind him. ”I’ve always treated my career independently because I feel like that’s the best way,” he said. “You gotta learn step-by-step what you’re doing because one day you might just be doing it solo.”

Tyga concluded that he feels this approach is also a rewarding one. ”I think that’s the best way too. You find yourself as an artist and you got your own fans and you just move on your own really and people respect that more,” he concluded.
